Downloading / Installing Virtual Strip Poker (on Windows Vista)

Installing The Game Engine on Windows Vista

As part of Microsoft's upgraded security for Windows, User Account Control (UAC) was created for Windows Vista. Unfortunately, UAC stops many legitimate programs (VSP-Poker included) from installing/working correctly.

To make VSP-Poker work with Vista, you will need to disable UAC. Disabling UAC will allow you to install/run VSP-Poker, as well as many other programs. However, note that you are disabling User Account Security, thus bypassing the "benefits" of Windows Vista Security. Proceed at your own risk.

Disabling Windows Vista UAC

To access UAC options, go to the START BUTTON (on the Windows Task Bar) and select Control Panel. Type "uac" in the search area and then select the option to turn UAC off. Once you have turned UAC off, you will want to re-boot the computer and then proceed to the next step.

Downloading/Installing the Game Engine

A free demo of the latest version of VSP-Poker may be downloaded here: try-vsp.exe. When you click this link, a window will appear asking what you wish to do with the file.

Select 'Run' to download and install the file directly from our website. Otherwise, you may select 'Save' to save the file on your hard drive for later installation. (If you chose this option, you will need to remember where you saved the file on your computer so you may access it later to install it.)

You may be prompted again with a "warning." Select "Run" to proceed. When the Game Engine installs, be sure to let it install into the default folder:

c:\program files\vsp-poker\

This is important because the Game Engine and Opponent files, as well as add-ons, all expect the program and necessary files to be at the above location.

Starting the Game

Once the game has been installed, you may activate it by going to the Windows START Button and looking for "VSP-Poker" or you may go to:

My Computer | C: Drive | Program Files Folder | VSP-Poker Folder

Look for the icon that appears as some cards with the letters "VSP" in red underneath and the word "Poker". Double-click on that icon to start the game.

The game will run in DEMO mode until you register the Game Engine. You may register the Game Engine by becoming a VSP-Poker VIP.

Installing Additional Opponents

Additional Opponents are available for download from the VSP-Poker VIP Lounge.

VIP Members will be able to download and install new Oppnent Modules, share self-created modules, and receive special discounts and deals for the LIVE version of VSP-Poker when it becomes available.
